“Subversive Radio In L.A.”

Clear Channel silences progressive voices!

On January 2nd KTLK 1150 radio in Los Angeles changed its format and call letters and dumped the progressive voices of Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, and David Cruz.

Instead of Progressive Talk Radio in Los Angeles they’ve moved to the seditious and repressive Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and someone named Doc Thompson.

Another step toward Fascism?

“Corporate Loopholes”

This article has been posted on The Huffington Post on 8/20.

************************************

Corporations are whining about taxes — still!

For years American corporations have bemoaned their high corporate taxes while fleecing the American people and watching the country fall apart.

We were warned about the potential evil of corporations years ago by Dwight D. Eisenhower as he left office — telling us to beware of the military-industrial complex and what it would do to our country.

To our freedom. To our happiness and well-being.

Was Eisenhower a visionary?

“Sour Apples”

This article is the 91st to be published on The Huffington Post.

***************************

Apple’s reincarnation has been utterly amazing!

The computer giant has achieved enormous wealth despite being counted for dead in the late 1990s. It now stands as one of the most innovative and richest corporations in the world after the return of the legendary Steve Jobs.

Apple was, and is the poster child for capitalism — a success story that eclipses all others.

But Apple’s image is beginning to tarnish!

“The Ugly States of the Union”

Each year we get an assessment of the nation’s health.

That comes from the President in the State of the Union address delivered to the whole nation in front of both houses of Congress. And, whether you like it or not, it’s the President’s view of how we’re doing as a nation.

And, though our nation is slowly recovering from the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, there are some big problems in this country that we, as a nation, need to address.

These huge problems are originating at the state level.

“A Political Deficit”

The fiscal situation is not the only deficit infecting this country.

Congress’s approval rating is a shocking ten percent. It’s lowest approval rating since they began keeping track in 1974 and, given the current political climate, there doesn’t appear to be any chance for improvement in the near future.

The reason for this low approval can be traced to the very sources of the problem and in order to fix it we must first expose what and who caused it to fall below the approval of Communism and Used Car Salesmen.

On issue after issue, as Yogi Berra so aptly put it, “It’s déja vu all over again.”

Is this low approval rating deserved?

“Exposing Real Voter Fraud”

This new article has been published on The Huffington Post. Click on the link to read it there.

***********************************

Voter fraud has accelerated throughout the U.S. and must be stopped.

Voter fraud is a problem in as many as 33 states and people are demanding action to save our democracy.

It’s a malignancy that must be eradicated before it metastasizes to all 50 states, an unstoppable force that threatens to infect our electoral process — threatens to undermine our Constitution and freedoms.

How did it ever get this bad?

“Make ’Em Pay!”

This article has been posted on The Huffington Post on 7/18.

******************************

Corporations and the wealthy are trying to buy elections from “the people.

What’s the cost to purchase the Presidency today, or a Senator or two? Or maybe a Representative or Supreme Court Judge?

Hell, what does it cost to buy the whole damn Congress; or at least a majority of it?

The Citizens United ruling, rendered by a suspect Supreme Court, has allowed our democratic elections to be sold to the highest bidder, and with it our democracy — our freedom.

How does this effect our future?

“Where Would We Be If…”

This article has been accepted by The Huffington Post for publication.

**********************

…we didn’t have the safety nets established years ago?

As Republicans strive to strip the programs that prevented us from falling into another Great Depression their arguments are devised to distract us from the truth.

Programs like Social Security and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, put into place after the financial collapse in the 1930’s, were borne of the pain and suffering millions of hard-working people endured throughout the thirties.

Where would we be today without them?

“Siege in Oakland’s Ogawa Plaza”

This article was accepted on The Huffington Post on 11/17. To read it on the HuffPost click on the link.

****************************

Three weeks ago a peaceful Occupy protest was disrupted by the Oakland Police!

On that Tuesday night Oakland and neighboring police departments turned Frank Ogawa Plaza into a war zone.

More than 300 officers from the Oakland Police Department and 18 local departments, in full battle gear, surrounded Frank Ogawa Plaza prepared to evict 100 people from the Occupy site.

Oakland PD, in a press release, cited health and safety concerns as reasons for removing the protesters. It was to be closed for cleaning and vector control then reopened to the people.

So, why were they dressed in riot gear when what they needed was HazMat gear?

“Debt, Deficit, and Deceit”

New article has been posted on The Huffington Post, on 7/19/11. Click on link to read article on Huff Post.

********************************************

Holding the debt ceiling hostage is a huge political mistake.

The debt limit and budget deficit are separate issues and should be dealt with separately.

This debt limit is the ghost of Congresses past. The budget and reducing the deficit is the ghost of Congresses future. But, reality is firmly entrenched in the present.

Reasonable legislators understand the immediacy of raising the debt ceiling and the potential ramifications of failing to do so.

It has been raised without question 10 times since 2000, eight times under George Bush. Though there is no clear history from a previous default, economic and business leaders around the world are warning of catastrophic implications in failing to do so.

If this is even remotely possible, why are Republicans holding the debt ceiling hostage?
