“Here We Go Again”

This article has been published at Huffington Post on 12/6.

************************

Republicans are hoping to find a star for 2016.

It’s still three years before the next Presidential election but already potential candidates are maneuvering for a shot as the party’s top contender.

Not so long ago, maybe three years or so, a number of Republican politicians unfurled their plumage — strutting before the party hoping to be the choice for the coveted award at the Republican National Convention — the GOP nominee for the Presidency.

They all pretended to have what it takes to become the top dog. But the field eventually narrowed, settling on the ‘strongest’ in an extremely weak field, Mitt Romney.

So here we go again!

“Republicans Cry Fraud”

This article has been published on The Huffington Post.

****************************

The clarion call from Republicans: Fraud!

Using fear in promoting selfish and ultimately destructive policies has become the GOP methodology — the backbone of their final attempt to hold onto a waning power.

Like the “Boy Who Cried Wolf” the GOP’s mantra for passing illegitimate legislation is the word ‘fraud.’ People are slowly catching on to their deceit and the party numbers are dwindling. Dropping with each deception, with every lie.

Are Republicans a party of false prophets?

“One-Hundred and Counting!”

This is my 100th article published on Huffington Post.

*********************

It hasn’t been 100 days, or 100 years, or even 100 victories.

But each one has been a victory even though it’s not tied to seasons, or sobriety, or jail time. It’s not historical or record breaking, but each is painstakenly researched, often prescient, generally significant, and usually relevant.

What, then, is it?

“The Summers of Our Discontent”

This article is the 98th posted on The Huffington Post.

*********************

The President named a new Fed Chairman.

Janet Yellen, currently Vice Chairwoman under Ben Bernanke, was selected by President Obama to head the most important financial institution in the world. The best choice he could make.

He was poised to make a huge mistake. One we couldn’t live with; one that would have caused more damage than has already been done.

The name of Larry Summers was recycled by the Obama administration, this time as a candidate for Chairman of the Federal Reserve.

But was Summers the right man for the job?

“A View From the Trout Farm”

This 3rd article in the Trout Series has been posted at The Huffington Post.

*************************************

Mike Trout wows baseball fans for the second straight season.

I know, many of you thought this was going to be a fish tale.

An article with stories about the one that got away. An ongoing tale of measurements that are almost unbelievable, with descriptions bigger than any conceivable wingspan.

If it’s not about fishing then what are we talking about?

“This Is Not Iraq: This is Syri…us”

This article has been poste at Huffington Post. To read is at Huff Post click on the link.

*********************************

The drums of war are being beaten again!

Those who advocated an unnecessary and illegal war in Iraq are now pounding the drums to get us involved in the Middle East again — this time in Syria.

We’re told that Syria is much different than Iraq. If the word ‘wolf’ comes to mind, ignore it. These are the same people that wanted to attack Iran less than a year ago because they were eerily close to a nuclear weapon.

Is Syria really different?

Is the Tea Party poisoning the Grand Old Party?

Republicans have never been particularly good at governing, but the Tea Party makes it impossible.

Life has become difficult for the Republican Party as their base — mostly old, Fox-watching white people — is fading into oblivion. A base easily stirred up over third rail issues and easy to convince to vote against their own best interest.

The advent of the Tea baggers in 2010, The Madhatter’s Tea Party,” has made things even worse. The political train is racing past Republicans and they don’t have a ticket to climb on board.

Where do they go from here?

“Corporate Loopholes”

This article has been posted on The Huffington Post on 8/20.

************************************

Corporations are whining about taxes — still!

For years American corporations have bemoaned their high corporate taxes while fleecing the American people and watching the country fall apart.

We were warned about the potential evil of corporations years ago by Dwight D. Eisenhower as he left office — telling us to beware of the military-industrial complex and what it would do to our country.

To our freedom. To our happiness and well-being.

Was Eisenhower a visionary?

“Right-Wing Wars”

This article was posted on The Huffington Post July 24th. Click on link to view on Huff Post.

*******************************

Republicans are engaged in a domestic war.

On the national level and in state legislature after state legislature rights and freedoms are being usurped by right-wing zealots who falsely invoke the Constitution and Christianity.

For a party that claims a strong desire for limited government and personal freedom, Republicans’ inject themselves into the lives of others with complete disregard for their well-being or right to personal freedoms.

Are Republicans’ inherently hypocrites?

“Still Ascending”

This is the 2nd article The Huffington Post has posted that I’ve written on Angel, Mike Trout.

*****************************

Mike Trout’s ascendancy last year was a pleasure to watch!

He not only provided a welcome excitement to the Angels near miss season, but, along with Mark Trumbo, provided the spark that got the team going.

How can anyone who had a near MVP season like Mike Trout continue to perform at a level that ignites a team, energizes the fans, and awes the league?

Well baseball fans, he’s doing it again!
